What happens if I use an overdrive pedal more than my amps distortion?

I have a Line 6 Spider III and I've been wandering what happen if I use a distortion pedal to insane chanel plz help me its my first time with instruments elctric i dunno if it will crack because there too much distortion

You should fine, although it will probably feed back like crazy and create a lot of noise. Distortion pedals work by remnants of the sound – you'll need only the sound is clipping and over in different ways. The most I used is 3 distortion pedals and overdrive channel of my amp – I said just made it through a great amp. No problem doing that, I just have a wall of noise. Best bet is to turn the gain all the way down and build it slowly. If you think this is going to damage your amp stop immediately. As I say, I've done it many times with no problems but I use a tube amp which can work differently in your line of 6 – start low and build it. I also think I should say I take no responsibility for anything, I'm just sharing experiences. Some other musicans use 2 old rythmn distortions simultaneously, too – if I right Metallica's sound is a distortion pedal and the amps distortion. Experiment, but start with low settings?
